The victim while enjoying a night out left her purse in the bar booth while she went out on the dance floor.  Upon returning to her seat she noticed her purse was gone.  Investigation is ongoing.  Case # 120168031

0843 Hours        3900 Block of 18th St.              Fugitive From Justice
A Mission Unit responded to the above area regarding a homeless encampment.  Upon arriving and talking with the person occupying the encampment, the Officer discovered suspected indicia; the suspect was a California Department of Corrections Parolee who had an outstanding No Bail warrant.  The suspect was taken into custody.  Case # 120165576

1420 Hours        300 Block of Noe St.                Robbery w/ a Knife
Victims were taking photographs in the Castro area when they were approached from behind by the Suspect.  The suspect strikes up a friendly conversation with the victims.  After several minutes of conversation the suspect asks for the victim's phone and tells them he is going to program his number for them.  The Victims being tourist from another country thought this was fine.  The suspect takes the phone, pulls a knife and tells the Victims not to follow him.  Investigation is ongoing.  Case # 120166524.

Mission Units responded to the area to process and release a recovered stolen vehicle reported by the owner.  Case # 120056248

A Mission Unit on patrol issued a citation to the suspect for setting up a large homeless encampment complete with a family size tent.  Case # 120163069

1433 Hours        400 Block of Valencia St                    Fraud, Possession of Stolen Property
Mission Officers on patrol stopped a subject who was known to be on court probation with a search condition.  Upon searching the subject, Officers found stolen property and narcotics.  The subject who is know a suspect was booked on several felony charges.  Case # 120163730

Mission Units responded to a call for service regarding someone lighting garbage on fire in closet of an SRO Hotel.  Upon investigating Officers were able to collect evidence linking a detained suspect to attempted Arson. The suspect was booked on multiple felonies.  Case # 120160037.

0230 Hours        500 Block of Noe St                    Robbery with Force
The Victim was walking in and around the above area when he was approached by the suspect who forcibly pulled at his necklace until it broke off.  The suspect fled in an unknown direction.  Investigation is ongoing.  Case # 120159949

1250 Hours        25th St/Shotwell St.                Possession of Loaded Firearm
A Suspect dressed as a DPW clean streets worker carrying a handgun didn't notice the vigilant Mission Bicycle Patrol Officer and walked directly passed him.  The Officer seeing the handgun attempted to detain the suspect who then ran.  The Officer gave chase while calling for back up.  Mission Units saturated the area and was able to take the suspect into custody.  The suspect was booked on numerous felonies.  Case # 120161063

 
 
0001 Hours        5100 Block of Diamond Hts.        Fraud
Victim received a check from suspect who wanted to buy merchandise the victim was selling.  The suspect's check was for well over the asking price of the merchandise.  The victim deposits the check and sends the difference back to the suspect via Western Union.  A day later the victim is notified by the bank, the check is fake.  Investigation is ongoing.  Case # 120158424

0135 Hours        1600 Block of Harrison St.            Assault with a Gun
The Victim's were traveling in the and around the above area when they noticed several females in the street.  One of the victim's shouted, get out of the street and pulled away.  While at a traffic light down the road they were approached by two suspects one of which had a gun and struck several times in the face and head.  Investigation is ongoing.  Case # 120156995.

2340 Hours            400 Block of Capp St                Assault with a Knife  
Neighbors known for not being neighborly confronted each other in the street. One neighbor pulled a knife then a long chain attempting to coax the other into a fight.  The victim ran away and called the police.  Mission Units arrived quickly and were able to take the knife wielding, chain spinning suspect into custody.  Case # 120159682

Greetings, 

I am sad to say that the Mission District suffered a homicide on Sunday, February 19, 2012.  Mr. Richard Sprague was found dead on the 100 block of Julian. I can not release any details regarding the incident at this time, being that it is an ongoing homicide investigation.  I can however, inform that our officers have made an arrest of a suspect who was in possession of Mr. Sprague’s property.  I offer my personal condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Sprague.

The Castro foot beat Officer was in the area of Castro and 18th Street when she saw a know suspect who was on San Francisco Court probation from numerous prior contacts.  Upon stopping the suspect and running a records check, it was discovered the suspect had an active warrant for his arrest.  The suspect was taken into custody.  Case # 120063710

1530 Hours                2000 Block of Market St                Theft
Victim was eating lunch in the food court area when she decided to purchase some ice cream.  Victim got up and went to purchase the ice cream leaving her backpack, laptop and other items behind.  When she returned her belongings were gone.  Investigation is ongoing.  Case # 120153258.

1735 Hours                2900 Block of Mission St            Assault/Battery with Serious Injuries
Victim went to a local laundry mat with the Suspect who is a friend.  Suspect disagreed with the way Victim was washing her clothes.  Suspect punched and kicked victim several times in the face and head.  Mission Units arrived quickly thanks to a concerned citizen who saw the incident unfold.  The suspect was taken into custody.  Case # 120152824.

0150 Hours         400 Block of Florida Street            Theft From Person
Victim was followed by Suspect who continuously asked Victim for money.  When Victim finally gave in, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash in which he intended to give suspect a few dollars.  The suspect grabbed the wad of cash from victim's hand and fled the area.  The Victim later saw suspect get into a waiting minivan in the area of 15th St/Harrison St.   Investigation is ongoing .  Case  120147455

1414 Hours           2900 Block of 16th St            Parole Violation
Mission Unit working in the area of 16th St/Mission St stopped a known gang member who was an active parolee with specific conditions not to associate with any other gang members.  Upon further investigating they realized several other known gang members were just previously with the suspect.  The suspect was taken into custody.  The suspect's Parole Agent was contact and his status was revoked.  Case # 120148942


1616 Hours         1900 Block of Mission St.            Possession of a Loaded Firearm/Resisting Arrest
Mission Officers on bicycle patrol and 16th St/Mission Street witnessed a physical altercation between three people.  As the Officers approached one of the suspects, stood up, looked at the Officers, reached into his waistband and immediately ran north on Mission Street.  Mission Officers pursued the fleeing suspect into a nearby merchant store.  The pursuing Officers then saw the suspect throw what later was discovered to be a fully loaded 380 caliber semi auto handgun.  The suspect was later booked at Mission Station on several felony charges.  Case # 120149285

 
 
Notable Incidents

1600 Hours         100 Block of Capp St.                Theft from Vehicle
A Mission Unit took a report regarding a vehicle break in.  The victim parked his car legally at 1600 hours then returned the next day at 0830 hours to find a window smashed and several items including, money, CD's, a CD player and other items stolen from the vehicle.  Investigation is on-going.  Case # 120143237.

2248 Hours        22nd St & Hampshire St            Traffic Violation/Fugitive From Justice
A Mission unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding and running a stop sign.  Upon conducting a records check, it was discovered the driver had a suspended license and several traffic warrants.  The vehicle was towed and the suspect was later booked at County Jail.  Case # 120147198.

2324 Hours        3300 Block of 17th St                Robbery
Mission Units responded to the above location to investigate a robbery.  The victim stated he was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.  After being punched and kicked several times, the victim was dragged by the suspect for several feet.  The suspect demanded the victim's money and phone.  The victim complied; the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction.  Investigation is on-going.  Case # 120147217.
