Greetings,

This week Mission Station hosted our first ever bicycle theft safety workshop.  The event, the brainchild of Officer Matt Friedman of Mission Station, took place Thursday, March 29th at Mission Station.  Representatives from Mission Station, BART Police, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, the Municipal Transportation Authority, San Francisco SAFE, Valencia Cyclery and the National Bicycle Registry  spoke regarding bicycle theft and safety.  I would like to thank the following individuals who contributed to this successful and informative event:

Andy Thornly, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, Lt. Forte, BART PD, Bert Hill, consultant, Municipal Transportation Authority, Rob McKenzie, San Francisco SAFE, Pauli and Timi, Valencia Cyclery , Kiesha, National Bicycle Registry, Starbucks Coffee, and, of course, Officer Matt Friedman for organizing the event.

I would also like to bring your attention to two upcoming events in the Mission District. The first is the San Francisco Fire Department’s Neighborhood Emergency Response Team Citywide Drill. It will be held at Everett Middle School on Saturday, April 14, 2012.  The second event is a MUNI workshop designed to get input on proposals to make the Muni faster and more reliable. The Mission workshop will be at the Women’s Building (18th/Valencia) on Wednesday April 11 to discuss proposals for the 14 Mission and 22 Fillmore. You may find more information regarding these events on the Mission Station website.

Regards,
Bob Moser
