I would like to acknowledge an outstanding arrest made by one of our hardworking Mission Station officers. On Thursday, August 16th Officer Dan Kroos was in the area of 16th andMission when he observed a suspect running down Mission Street, nervously looking over his shoulder. Believing that a crime may have just occurred, Officer Kroos stopped the individual and engaged him in conversation. During the encounter, the suspect presented a forged Driver’s license. Officer Kroos placed him into custody for the violation. In search incident to arrest, Officer Kroos seized burglary tools, brass knuckles and stolen property that was taken during a recent auto burglary in the area. A search of the suspect’s nearby hotel room revealed suspected methamphetamine. This is one example of the outstanding police work performed by the men and women of Mission Station on a daily basis. On August 4th, Officer Kroos was also responsible for the apprehension of a suspect who had robbed a man in the area of 24thand Mission Streets with a sawed-off shotgun.
Thanks and Have a Great Weekend,

Although burglaries are slightly down during this reporting period, we are still seeing un-forced entry burglaries throughout the district. We have found that in several burglaries the suspect has gained entry through un-locked windows or doors. Please remember to properly secure your doors and windows.
On Friday, July 20th, I attended a meeting hosted by Joaquin Torres of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services along with representatives from BART, the Health Department, Probation, Parole, the District Attorney’s Office, David Campos’ Office, local business representatives and Bevan Dufty, Director of H.O.P.E. regarding 16th and Mission. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss solutions to some of the chronic issues at that location. I have since been in contact with representatives from Probation and Parole regarding collaborative enforcement projects in the area. Mission Station Officers have made over 130 arrests at 16th and Mission since April.
Thanks and Have a Great Weekend,
