This weekend the Mission District will host the La Cocina Food Festival. The festival will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2013, from 11 AM to 7 PM and will be held on Folsom Street between 20th and 26th. The festival will feature a representation of the diverse cross section of foods and cultures comprising the City of San Francisco. The festival is a ticked event and tickets may be purchased at the gates. The festival is a non-drinking event except for in designated beer gardens. This is a unique venue in which you can experience the diversity of foods that the City has to offer in a fun, family atmosphere.
I would also like to highlight an outstanding arrest that Mission officers made on Sunday, August 11, 2013. At approximately 9 AM on Sunday, Mission Station officer responded on a call of a suspicious person in a vehicle at 20th and Diamond Streets. The officers contacted the driver of the vehicle and quickly determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The officers placed the driver under arrest and during the investigation they seized over thirty cell phones and computers from the suspect. The officers suspected that these items were stolen. In a subsequent follow up investigation Mission Station investigators were able to confirm that over fifteen of the phones were taken in pick pocket type incidents in various locations throughout the City. Officers booked the suspect on charges of drunk driving and possession of stolen property.
Have a great weekend,
Captain Bob Moser
