Thefts from vehicles in the Mission District for the month of October 2013 showed a preliminary decrease of -18.72% from the previous month. Targeted enforcement obtained by San Francisco Police Department’s CrimeView application provided the data for deployment of officers based on time of day and day of week of the selected offense.
Additionally, uniform officers increased patrol on all shifts in targeted areas of frequent auto break-ins and vehicle thefts. These areas included, but are not limited to Dolores Park, Castro, and the vicinity of 16th and Mission Streets.. Plainclothes officers also saturated the areas to conduct surveillance, identify possible suspects, and carry out enforcement operations to reduce the frequency of incidents through apprehension.
We have provided a crime map showing the locations of the reported incidents involving thefts from vehicles for the month of October 2013.
