This week I truly enjoyed engaging with a diverse group of citizens during my first community meeting as the Captain of Mission Station. The attendance of citizens from all different areas of our district impressed me. Residents and merchants from areas such as the Noe Valley, the Valencia Gardens, lower 24th Street and the Castro all came together to voice their opinions and concerns regarding public safety. Such public discourse encourages us as it represents the spirit of community policing. The officers of Mission Station and I had the opportunity to provide the audience public safety tips regarding preventing bicycle theft and how to avoid being the victim of telephone and internet scams.
This week, vandals targeted Dolores Park during the late evening hours, spray painting the clubhouse and damaging equipment. In response, the Officers of Mission Station have increased patrols in the park on foot, in vehicles and on motorcycles. I also ask residents to be vigilant in the area and to immediately report any suspicious activity. The hardworking Officers of Mission Station continue to make outstanding arrests. Below, you will find a synopsis of some of those incidents.
